President's Message

Dr Chamila Liyanage

It is with great pleasure that I address you as the President of the College of Anaesthesiologists and Intensivists of Sri Lanka (COAISL). I am truly honoured to lead our College and to serve a community of professionals dedicated to excellence in patient care.

Anaesthesia and intensive care medicine continues to evolve rapidly. Today, the anaesthesiologist plays a vital role not only within the operating theatre but throughout the perioperative period, and in critical care, pain medicine, and resuscitation. Our contribution is central to patient safety, quality improvement, and advancing healthcare standards in Sri Lanka.

The theme for this year, “Innovate, Collaborate, and Excel,” reflects our vision for the future. Innovation encourages us to embrace new knowledge, technologies, and practices that enhance patient outcomes. Collaboration strengthens partnerships within our specialty and across disciplines. Excellence reminds us of our responsibility to uphold the highest professional, academic, and ethical standards.

This website serves as a dynamic platform to connect our members, promote academic activities, encourage research, and facilitate professional development. It is a space for sharing knowledge, celebrating achievements, and strengthening unity within our College.

As we move forward together, I invite every member to actively engage in our initiatives and contribute to the growth of our specialty. Through collective effort and shared commitment, we can continue to strengthen anaesthesia and intensive care services in Sri Lanka.
